Splashpark Fun!

After picking up Andrew from school today, we headed over to our local zoo for a little while. It was quite an August scortcher of an afternoon at about 94 degrees!! After visiting the snake room (that was air-conditioned), we made our way to the splashpark which is inside the zoo on the way back to the exit. Never have I been so tempted to join the boys and run through the water than I was today...they had a blast and I took a few cute pictures...enjoy!

Poor Little Rat

Whoever designed this Ratatoulle toy, which Sam LOVES, must have had a pretty good sense of humor. Demel and I have to chuckle every time we need to change Remy's batteries. Take a close look where the screw to the battery compartment is located...now picture the fear in a childs eyes if he walks in on you mid screw removal.

Mommy, what are you doing to Remy's bottom??!! Hasn't really happened, but I'm sure the day will come...I'll let you know. Come to think of it, I think this was a potty training prize a few months back and was in the clearance area of the Disney store. Hmmm...wonder why it was only $5.00

Local Fay Flooding

This house is about a mile (or less as the crow flies) from our house and is the most effected by the overwhelming amount of water that our area recieved from Fay. I took this picture on Friday night and since then the water has actually gone up more! There is probably about 24" of water inside the house and the family has moved out themselves as well as a few personal things...for who knows how long.

Sam Goes to Preschool

It's only fair that Sam share the spotlight as we return to another school year. He started back yesterday and was very excited to see some of his friends from last year again...especially Ashlyn, whom he told us he plans to marry!!! High school is going to be fun!! Not a tear was shed as I left the room- he was ready to get started in his new class.

Andrew goes to Kindergarten!

Andrew is officially in Kindergarten as he started school at Bentley Elementary last week. He was so excited to go to school in the morning. He ran around the house saying, "Today is August 18. School starts." He knew this because that's what I had written on the calendar in the kitchen. Demel went into work late that day and was able to escort Andrew with me to his classroom. As you could see, he was all smiles right before we went inside, and so were mom and dad.
So many things have transpired that brought us to the first day of Kindergarten, and that fact that Andrew is spending at least 80% of the day in a mainstream classroom is almost a dream come true! God is good..God is in control...God is Awsome!!!
We found out at the end of the school year in June, that Andrew would not be attending the same Elementary school that he had attended Pre-K in for two years. The ASD (autism spectrum disorder) unit was being closed and he would have to adjust to a different school altogether in the fall. I was so upset and concerned about how this could possibly be a good thing for Andrew.
Long story short...Without any influence from myself or Andrew's teacher, he was placed in Mrs. Brown's class. Mrs. Brown just so happens to be a member of our church, and in fact, her daughter has recently started babysitting for us. Melissa told me that the principal placed Andrew in her class...I believe a higher power had a hand in that placement.
Bentley has a separate building for Kindergarten classrooms and a smaller dedicated cafeteria for those classrooms..a much better senario for Andrew. We are at peace with where he is this year and I know that his teacher loves him and prays for her classroom everyday! God is good, isn't He?

LOOOK.....Pictures!!!!!

All my good friends know that I'm not the greatest one at returning phone calls. Apparently, I should add to that keeping my blog updated. I really do have the best intentions on doing this more often, but...but... but nothing. There are no excuses. I'm sorry! Have my latest posts all had this introduction?...it sounds very familiar. I will add more photos and stories soon as Andrew is now in Kindergarten!!!! and Sam is in preschool three days a week till 2pm. I really should find the time to do this now more than during the summer. Remember, NEITHER one of my boys nap anymore, so sitting in front of the computer doesn't usually happen till their bedtime.
These pictures are a bit dated as they were taken back in June. I chose them because in these two pictures, the whole family is represented. Pinch yourself now and realize that this is not a dream. Christa has posted again. Now, it will no longer say that it's been 5 months since I posted on Mandy's site. (That was the catalyst for me doing this. Thanks, friend!)
